Hey friends! I know I’ve been silent over the past month. I decided to take a spontaneous vacation and focus on finishing the edits of my current WIP. The good news = I finished basic edits. The complicated news = I’ve added a few major changes that I’m still working on. New goal = to have a completed MS by July. *sigh* Why do these characters keep telling me things?

Having said that, here’s an update on my submission goals for 2018!

April:

  1. Submitted a flash fiction story to Splickety Publishing Group and my submission was accepted! The magazine released tomorrow! I will post a billion things so you don’t miss out on ordering.

  2. Submitted to Chicken Soup for the Soul. (Still radio-silence on their end so no clue if any of my submissions are under consideration.)

  3. Had plans to submit 2 more items but alas, surprise visitors over the last 4 days of the month threw things out of whack. Oh well! There’s always another place to submit!

As I said above, I spent May focused on my WIP, so I chose not to take time away to submit elsewhere. But I already have plans for June, which I’m working like a little worker-bee to get finished!

Also, my monthly column for fantasy/sci-fi AlmostAnAuthor has gone live! Check out my latest article here. I was inspired to write about myths and how they can influence our writing because I’m currently writing a modern retelling of a fairytale in short story form! And probably also because I’m currently reading CJ Redwine’s The Traitor Prince (a retelling of The Prince and the Pauper.) So. Good. Eeep!

What about you? Where are you with keeping to your 2018 goals? If you’re a writer, where have you been submitting? Do you enjoy reading/writing myths or fairytales? Feel free to talk in the comments below! It’s time we broke radio-silence!

Happy day, friends!
