Book Review: ‘Into the Still Blue’ by Veronica Rossi

I can’t tell you how excited I am to be writing this review! I began this series a couple years ago, soon after I picked up the first novel, ‘Under the Never Sky’. I was immediately hooked, in awe of the fantastical world Veronica Rossi had created. The story of Aria – a young girl from the ‘pods’, who lived most of her life in a virtual world – crossing paths with the ‘outsider’, Perry, who’s clan had lived their entire lives in the harsh conditions of a world ripped apart b

Sneak Peek Sunday – ‘Now I Sleep’ Novella Series Book 5

Happy Sunday! The next book in my novella series, “Now I Sleep”, comes out this coming weekend! Who counting down with me? To boost your excitement, I thought I’d give you all a sneak peek of one of the scenes. Have you finished your happy dance, yet? Ok! 🙂 Having said that, this scene is from the middle of the book, so it won’t help you if you’re dying to know what happened next after book 4. Sorry! You’ll have to buy it to continue the saga of Sadie and Delylah. Many of yo

    The Inspired Writer

Recently I read a post by another blogger who posed the question to other writers, Are you currently in a writing mode? It was an interesting question, one I hadn’t considered recently, as I’ve been caught up with things of life. My writing has always gone in waves, some months much more productive than others. I’ve written entire 80,000 word novels in 3 weeks but have also taken 6 months to complete a much smaller manuscript. A few months ago, I was in a particular ‘writer’s

Book Review: Opposition (Lux novel #5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

I have to say, I’m super excited about posting this book review, since this has been one of my favorite series of all time, since book 1! I literally counted down the days until this final novel in the series was released and am uber happy I finally had time to sit down and read it! 🙂 Ok, onto the review! Opposition is the 5th and final book in The Lux Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I was first turned on to this series by my husband (yes, you read that right!) who had stu

Early reveal of Book 5 cover!

Ok, so book 5 of the ‘Now I Sleep’ novella series won’t be out for another 10ish or so days. BUT I got an early Christmas present today, when my amazingly, awesome cover designer asked what I thought of her tweak for the cover of book 5. I love it, people! How about you?? For those that haven’t been following the ‘saga of the covers’ for this series, each cover has an ‘easter egg’, which gives a hint as to the theme of each book. Although most were released with generic cover

Book Review: The Offering (The Pledge #3) by Kimberly Derting

This week’s book review is another final book in a series I began a few years ago. (Why does it seem like all the book series I’ve been reading have been ending all at once?) ‘The Offering’ by Kimberly Derting brings ‘The Pledge’ series to a close, and has been a book I’ve been looking forward to reading for a while now. The plot: (Spoilers – beware) At the start of book 1, the scene is set sometime in the future, in the country of Ludania. There are very distinct classes amo

Now I Sleep: Book Four is published!

Yay! Book Four of the ‘Now I Sleep (A Novella Series)’ is finally out! I must say this was the least stressful and the most fun I’ve had editing, of all of them so far. I hope that bodes well for books 5 & 6 – due by the close of summer! 🙂 If you haven’t yet begun reading this series, I would really encourage you to do so! I decided to go back and re-read books 1-3 and I have to say, I couldn’t put them down! 🙂 Ok, Ok… I wrote them, I get it – I’m totally biased! BUT I have

    Book 4 coming soon!

The 4th book in the “Now I Sleep” novella series is due out by the end of the month! (No, I haven’t forgotten, those of you that are keeping track.) I often aim to release on a Tuesday, since that is just the norm for book and movie release dates. But there are a few more items I want to tweak to be sure everything is good to go before it hits the virtual world! No worries – it will be out before Aug. 1 😉 For those that haven’t yet begun the journey into the world of Dream J

    ‘Kiss of Fire’ for free…

One of my favorite Indie authors is Rebecca Ethington, her first novel – “Kiss of Fire (Imdalind #1)” – effectively hooking me into a Fantasy universe that I love! If you enjoy reading about magic and romance, you will surely enjoy this series of books. Ms. Ethington creates characters that you will fall in love with, route for and worry over, as she weaves her tale of adventure. The story follows Joclyn, an ordinary teenager until her 16th birthday, when she receives a surpr

Book Series Review: Legend series by Marie Lu

The time has come! I promised a book review of 3 a week ago and it’s finally here! Although this is not a new series, it has been one on my radar for a couple years now. Not only have I seen it on countless friends Goodreads accounts, I’ve heard great reviews from critics, as well! Legend is the breakout novel by Marie Lu and took the world of readers by storm! Similar to The Hunger Games and Divergent series, it is a militaristic dystopian novel, set in a future US after the

    Time for a poll!

So, after publishing Book 2, in the Now I Sleep novella series, a friend of mine suggested I make the covers different, so those that had downloaded all the books could easily tell which book was which in just a glance. Having realized how much easier this would make it for the reader, I of course had to complicate things and decided that not only adding a number but also an easter egg to each one, would be more fun! Having said that, if you had previously purchased Books 1 &

Book Review: Hollow City – Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

It’s that time again! OK, so I went longer than normal for a review, but that’s only because prior to reading this one, I read another book that was a first in a trilogy. I’ve decided to read the other two books and then leave one review for the series 🙂 Having said that, I was uber excited to get my hands on the next book in the Peculiar Children series by Ransom Riggs. Hollow City is book two out of what I assume will end up being a three novel series. The book picks up ri

Book Review – City of Heavenly Fire (Mortal Instruments #6) by Cassandra Clare

So, I finished this days ago but have been procrastinating writing the review hoping for inspiration. I mean, it’s not like it was bad – it was actually quite a good book. But it was the ending to a 6 book series, which makes me emotional in so many ways. Like so many others, I hate when a series comes to an end! Here it is: City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare is the last book in the Mortal Instruments series. It was long – oh dear God, so very long! – at 725 pages. I ac

Book Review – Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children

Ok, ok, the long overdue book review is finally here! (Would you believe I started writing this yesterday, but didn’t finish until just now?) Yes, I admit, I neglected it to do things like: go for a girls’ night out dinner with friends; sit through (yet another) performance of Les Miz; sit on a sandy beach watching my children play; and finally, to go see ‘The Fault in our Stars‘ movie (amazing, BTW!) Sorry, sorry – summer is here and all that, right? So, this past week I spe

Book Review Wednesday: ‘Flotsam & Jetsam’ by Carrie Ryan

OK, this book isn’t new and it isn’t even a full length book. BUT, that being said, I had previously read Carrie Ryan’s “Forest of Hands and Teeth” trilogy and LOVED them! I hadn’t realized she’s been releasing short stories that pertain to the FOHAT world and was excited to get my hands on this one! Ok, so it’s short but SO good! It is set modern day – opposite of FOHAT, which is set sometime in the future – and begins right at the outbreak of whatever sickness caused the do

Book Review Wednesday – “The Shadow Throne”

Yeah, don’t take that heading to heart – there’s a very good chance the book review days might (will) change! I had actually wanted to do this Monday but time got away from me, so… here it is, 2 days later 🙂 Having said that, today I will be reviewing, “The Shadow Throne (Book 3 of The Ascendance Trilogy)” by Jennifer A. Nielsen. The Short: Amazing book. Amazing series. Love, love, loved it! The Long: OK, I’m not exaggerating when I said I loved this book (and series). Altho
